I work with a personal trainer, and one of the biggest shifts for me has been learning to lift heavier than I ever thought I should at this stage of life.

Strength training and impact work, including things like jumping, are not about aesthetics for me. They are about preserving muscle, protecting bone density, and staying capable as my body changes. It took time to trust that this kind of training was supportive, not harmful.

I had to let go of the idea that women in menopause should only do “gentle” movement. Some days gentle is exactly what I need. Other days, lifting heavy makes me feel more grounded, stronger, and mentally clear.

I’m curious how others are approaching strength and impact as they age.

Have you worked with a trainer, lifted heavier, or changed how you move to support muscle and bone health?

Reading counts if you’re not ready to share.
